Bijay Diwas bares fissures in Balikuda BJD unit

The internal squabbling of Balikuda BJD unit was exposed on Wednesday when party’s dissident leader Raghunandan Das hosted a mammoth public meeting at Bandar in coastal Panchayat of Marichapur, called as Vijaya Divas commemorating BJD’s victory in just concluded urban polls in the State. Interestingly, BJD’s local MlA Prashant Muduli skipped the meeting creating a flutter in the locality.

Reports revealed that for warming up the BJD workers for the ensuing General and Assembly elections in 2014 next, Das, known as MlA Muduli’s adversary, had organised the congregation at Bandar.

Interestingly, likeminded people of Balikuda area who do not like Muduli, owing to his failure to ensure development of the Balikuda- Erasama Assembly constituency, assembled there to observe the Vijaya Divas and show their dissidence in the party.

The dissidence in the party was first seen during a Jana Samparka Padayatra held in last October when Das and MlA Muduli organised the BJD’s Padayatra separately in Erasama and Balikuda area. Again, the Vijaya Divas celebration exposed the party’s internal squabble when Das organsied the massive public meeting at Bandar and called upon the party workers to be united ahead of the general elections.

Among others, who attended the meeting were Sanjaya Mohanty, Natabar Muduli, Krushna Chandra Barala, Parama Nanda Mohanty, Nikunja Swain, Ajaya Biswal, Guna Nidhi Das, Jaya Ram Mohanty, Khetra Mohan Sahoo, Nitya Nanda Parida, Manas Parida and Ravindra Parida.

When contacted, Muduli quipped that he was unaware of the meeting held at Bandar village on Wednesday and described it as unofficial. He also denied charges leveled against him by Das.
