In an accidental fire, the three-room parental thatched house of BJP leader Bijay Mohapatra at Talakusuma under the Patkura police station in Kendrapada district was gutted on Monday while nobody was present in the house.
Several valuable household items were reduced to ashes.
Local fire tender personnel with the help of locals later doused the flames.
Though the reason behind the fire was yet to be known, it was suspected that it was due to an electric short circuit.
Bijay Mohapatra, after getting information, reached the house and alleged that it might be the handiwork of some miscreants.
