Staffs of Barapada BIET have been staging an agitation at the Collectorate here demanding a Crime Branch inquiry into the alleged fund bungling of Rs 300 crore in the institution.
They alleged that Skill Development and Technical Education Minister Sanjay Dasburma is supporting former BIPT president Prayaskanti Samal, son of MlA Prafulla Samal, and his three other supporters, in violation of High Court orders.
According to staff committee reports, one interim committee was formed on August 18, 2015 and made functional September 6 in the same year where in the four were included illegally.
The High Court had ordered not to take new members in the interim committee. But cunningly, Dasburma noticed to Bhadrak DM to enlist Prayaskanti Samal and his three supporters in the interim committee, the agitators alleged.
The committee demanded that the Crime Branch should conduct an investigation into the alleged misappropriation of about Rs300 crore.
They wanted to know when Prayaskanti Samal had earlier written to the Chief Minister for handover of the BIET to Government fold, then why Dasburma entered his name in the disputed interim committee.
Among others, Dr Pradip Nayak, Badri Narayan Dhal, Jatindra Ghadei, and Harendra Das staged the demonstration.
