An attempt to steal a huge bathing vessel, which was made of valuable materials for the then Athagarh queen during the Gadajat regime, was made by some miscreants on Wednesday night.
The palace of the erstwhile Athagarh king is now being used as the Gopabandhu Science College and the bathing vessel was installed inside its campus.
On the day, some miscreants tried to take the vessel away with them by telling the college guard that they had been instructed by a local leader to do so.
However, the watchman objected to their bid refusing to give them permission and, instead, informed about the matter to College Principal Harapriya Samantaray, who later lodged an FIR in this regard with the Athagarh police.
