Unidentified miscreants on Sunday night broke into the Danpur branch of the Indian Bank and attempted to loot its strong room and ATM but failed in their efforts.
Inspector-in-Charge of Kendrapara Sadar police station Nilakantha Prasad Patra said though the miscreants entered the bank by cutting the grill with gas cutters, they failed to take cash from the strong room.
Even, the miscreants’ efforts to loot cash from the ATM counter did not succeed. After the Branch Manager lodged an FIR, senior officers of the bank and police rushed to the spot and sealed the ATM counter, informed Patra.
However, the miscreants managed to decamp with the computer hard disc from the bank and CCTV, monitor and CPU of the ATM.
The matter came to the fore on Monday morning when the bank opened.
A police team has begun investigations into the incident with the help of a forensic team and a sniffer dog.
But the police are still clueless about the miscreants, and no arrest has been made so far.
