After a lull of a few months, another mishap took place inside the Bhushan steel plant in Dhenkanal district on Saturday resulting in death of a labourer.
The deceased was identified as Sulabh Nayak (22) of Budhapanka village under Banarpal block in Angul district. He was working as a mechanical helper under the Sri Ganesh Construction Company of Bihar, a contractor of the Bhushan plant.According to reports, Nayak died of electrocution when short circuit occurred in the plant at the afternoon. After the death, the company officials sent the body to the deceased’s village without informing the local police or sending it for postmortem.
Irate family members of the deceased along with fellow villagers staged dharna in front of the plant’s main gate, protesting the callousness of the plant authorities and lack of safety in the plant, sources added.
