Bhubaneswar hottest at 42.3 degrees

As the monsoon continued to play hide and seek, intense heat wave conditions have thrown life out of gear across the State with the mercury soaring to 40 degrees Celsius or more in seven places on Sunday.

State capital Bhubaneswar recorded the highest temperature of 42.3 degrees on the day. The scorching heat along with high humidity made the city denizens’ life miserable.

Angul recorded a temperature of 41.3 degree Celsius, Balangir 40.6 degree, Cuttack 40.2 degree, Baripada 40.4 degree, Bhawanipatna 40.2 degree and Chandbali 40.4 degree.

The heat wave conditions are likely to prevail for five more days, after which a low pressure over the Bay of Bengal is likely to make the conditions favourable for monsoons again, said the Regional Office of Indian Metrological Department here on Sunday.

The capital city would have a maximum temperature of around 40 degree Celsius on Monday with partly cloudy sky, predicted the IMD.
