Local academicians on Thursday urged for establishment of a BHU-type Central University at Puri to meet the demand being made since seven years.
Dr Sanat Mohapatra, Dr Ajit Kumar Mahapatra, Debasis Rath and Sangram Keshri Das briefed about the aims, objectives, benefits and strategies of the ongoing movement for the purpose at a meeting here.
Dr Sanat Mohapatra said there is a greater need for a BHU-type Central University at Puri since the efforts to establish Vedanta University went in vain in the recent past. Establishment of such a prestigious educational institution would bring back the past glory of the Jagannath Dham, he added.
On the occasion, a compendium regarding the activities of the mission was released. Later, they presented the compendium to various political parties requesting them to include the demand in their manifestoes in the forthcoming elections.
