Bhograi: BJD may not witness smooth sail

Published on:

Sitting MlA and BJD candidate for the Bhograi Assembly seat Ananta Das may not have a smooth sail this time as rebel candidates are expected to play a decisive role vis-a-vis his chances. Two strong dissident candidates, one from the BJD and the other from the Congress are in the fray this time. Their presence has made situation complicated for the BJD’s Das and Congress candidate Satyasiba Das.

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has fielded Asish Das, the Congress’ former block president. Similarly, the it has fielded Dr Kartikeswar Patra, who had lost the Bhograi seat to BJD candidate Das in the 2009 polls by a margin of 17,000 votes, as Baleswar MP candidate.

Congress candidate Satyasiba Das is a journalist-turned-politician. While TMC candidate Das is expected to pose problem for the Congress candidate, BJD candidate Das faces no less problematic situation than the Congress nominee.

Former BJD leader Paresh Nayak, a retired bureaucrat, has filed nominations on behalf of the BJP. Nayak is likely to get a large number of BJD votes this time and would pose problems for three time MlA Das, feel political observers here.

“In the changed political scenario, BJP candidate Nayak and TMC candidate Das will play decisive role for a candidate’s win from Bhograi seat. Apart from their party votes, Nayak and Das will get sizable votes from the BJD and the Congress respectively,” feel the political observers.
