Entry of foreign and local tourists into the park is prohibited during the period.

The park will reopen for tourists from January 12.

The Bhitarkanika National Park is the home to endangered saltwater crocodiles. As per the census 2021, there are 1,768 saltwater crocodiles in the wildlife habitat, which is the second largest mangrove ecosystem of India.
