The first annual general body meeting of the Bhimpahad Krushak Producers Company limited, a firm with 1,502 farmers as it shareholders, was held here on Thursday.
The company is promoted by the Reliance Foundation and financially supported by Nabard.
Deputy Director of Agriculture Balangir Sridhar Das while inaugurating the meeting stressed on the need to adopt line sowing method in paddy cultivation for less consumption of water and more production.
DDM Nabard Tapan Kumar Sahu revealed that the water conservation measures undertaken by Bhimpahad Krushak Producers Company were widely appreciated at the international level. Earlier, company chairman Satyanarayan Budek delivered the keynote address.
The meeting among others discussed issues like linkage with Government department, bankers, strengthening Kuibahal haat, opening vegetable outlet at Balangir, besides other issues.
The other company Board of Director members presented their achievements. later, the shareholders were given certificates by the delegates.
