The Bargarh Town police on Thursday arrested Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) State secretary Irasis Acharya in connection with the firing at Bhatli of the district on June 1, 2018.
He was arrested after interrogation. “During the course of interrogation we found Irasis hand behind the firing.
We had called him yesterday for interrogation and arrested and forwarded him in the court today,” said Bargarh Additional SP Jaswant Senapati.
On the other hand, Irasis claimed that his arrest was politically motivated and alleged labour and Employment Minister Sushant Singh’s hand behind his arrest.
Meanwhile, several BJYM activists staged protest before the police station over Acharya’s arrest.
Notably, one Bulu Satnami of Chamarpada in the Sohela area of the district had died after sustaining bullet injuries during a firing in front of BJP office near Acharya’s residence in Bhatli on June 1.
