The ICAR-Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture in association with the Darbar Sahitya Sansad (DSS) launched a Bhargabi Fish Farmers Producers Company Limited on Wednesday at Naroda in Khordha.
OUAT Agronomy Professor and Head Dr Basudeb Behera, NFDB, Hyderabad Senior Executive Director Dr Manas K Sinha, Khordha KVK Subject Matter Specialist (Horticulture) Ajay K Dash and Bhargabi Fish Farmers Producers Company Limited Director Padmanava Chaudhury attended as guests.
Dr Behera congratulated the Directors of FPOs and urged them to adopt innovative practices in cultivation of vegetables and other crops. Dr Sinha mentioned about brood bank facilities, capacity building programmes being implemented by the NFDB.
ICAR-CIFA HOD Dr GS Saha encouraged the farmers to form aggregate. It was followed by release of publication on Farmer First project operated by the ICAR-CIFA. Later, the guests launched the Bhargabi Fish Farmers Producers Company Limited.
On the occasion, six selected farmers were felicitated for their contribution in aggregating the producers and forming FPOs. An exhibition was also organised on the sidelines of the event wherein different stakeholders showcased their services, products etc. for creating awareness among farmers.
