The Information and Broadcasting Ministry has organised a three-day Bharat Nirman Jana Soochana Abjhiyan in Maoist-infested Umarkote in Nabarangpur district.

The 40th Jana Soochana Abhiyan was inaugurated by Nabarangpur MP Pradip Majhi on Thursday. The objective of the campaign is to sensitise rural people, particularly in inaccessible areas, about the various welfare programmes introduced by the Central Government for their socioeconomic development and empowerment and to enable them to know their rights and avail their entitlements.

Speaking on the occasion, MP Majhi, Umarkote MlA Subhas Gond  and district Collector Jamini Sadangi stressed the need for conducting regular and intensified Bharat Nirman Jana Soochana campaigns in backward and schedule areas to familiarise people with the flagship programmes like the MNREGA, Direct Benefit Transfer scheme, food security scheme, land acquisition, Prime Minister Gram Sadak Yojana, Rajiv Gandhi Gramin Vidyutikaran Yojana, Rural Health Mission, IAY and old age pension for their successful implementation.

They also advised the Press Information Bureau and Field Publicity Directorate to sensitise people about the Right to Information and Aadhaar. School students, elected representatives and Asha and Anaganwadi Karmis of the block attended the function. An exhibition has also been organised on the occasion where as many as 37 stalls highlighting various programmes and policies of the Central and State Governments are set up.
