The Bharat Bandh called by the opposition parties against demonetization had little impact in Keonjhar district due to lack of public support.
Although the BJD Government had declared a holiday for schools, colleges and Government offices to support the Bandh indirectly, the market was open and traffic normal.
The left parties took out a protest rally around the headquarters town and staged a demonstration in front of the Collectorate followed by a street corner meeting. Even all banks functioned normally where customers in queue waited patiently for their banking business.
Earlier, an awareness campaign was made through social media among public not to support the bandh. College students and BJP supporters went around with slogans “Modiji hum tumhare Saath hai.” life was normal in all places of the district with no report of violence anywhere.
