Bhapur nurse’s transfer opposed

Published on:

Locals have strongly opposed the transfer of a nurse from the Bhapur Community Health Centre (CHC) and threatened to take to the streets against the move taken by the Nayagarh Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO).

“While the CHC lacks adequate numbers of doctors, there are only four registered numbers of nurse posts and, of them, only three nurses are on the job. Recently, Nayagarah CDMO Dr Shweta Mohapatra has ordered to shift Nurse Prabhati Mohapatra to the District Headquarters Hospital on deputation,” said villagers.

When contacted, CHC Chief Medical Officer said health services would be impacted if a nurse is shifted.

However, CDMO Mohapatra said a nurse from the CHC would be transferred only after a substitute is posted.
