Kalahandi Congress strongman Bhakta Charan Das has made amends to his earlier stand against State party chief Prasad Harichanan on the issue of the latter’s choice of the Kalahandi district party president.
Das, a former Union Minister, who recently publicly revolted against the DCC chief’s nomination without his consent, had a close-door meeting with Harichandan at the Congress Bhawan here on Thursday.
Das told the media after the talks with the PCC president that he was “sorry” for his utterances against the latter. “He (Harichandan) is our PCC chief; and we have to cooperate with him,” he stated.
He admitted he should have discussed with Harichandan before going public on the choice of the DCC president. “What I had said was out of anger; and anger is a man’s great enemy, Das regretted, adding that there was a communication gap between him and the PCC president.
Das’ changed stand was, according to political observers, the outcome of Harichandan’s recent visit to New Delhi, where the PCC chief might have apprised the AICC leadership about Das’ harmful attitude towards the Dtate party leadership.
