A special POCSO Court here on Saturday sentenced a 35-year-old man to 10 years’ rigorous imprisonment (RI) for raping a minor girl two years ago.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Pranati Saha, presiding over the court, pronounced the punishment to the convict Kartik Mallick. Besides the RI, the court imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on Mallick, who belongs to Taladapa village under the Tihidi police station in the district.
Notably, on May 20, 2017, Mallick had forcibly taken the girl of the same village to a nearby field while she was returning home from a neighbour’s house after watching television.
He raped her in night. The girl’s father filed a complaint with the Tihidi police. Mallick was arrested and tried under Sections 376, 506 of IPC and Section 6 of POCSO Act.
