A violent clash between two groups over construction of a mini stadium at Gohirani village in the district claimed the life of a person and left four others critically injured on Thursday.
Sources said Rs 3.5 lakh was sanctioned for construction of a mini stadium in the village and a work order regarding the project was given to the local sarpanch’s son Debashish Das and his friend. However, one Lokanath Sethi of the village and his supporters had opposed the mini stadium alleging that inferior quality construction work was carried out by Debashish and his associates.
The dispute between the two groups turned into a group clash in the morning which became fatal as Lokanath died on the spot after he was attacked with knives. Four others sustained injuries in the incident and were admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital in a critical condition. Police have started investigation into the matter after arresting Debashish.
