Convicting former Deputy Director, Agriculture, land and Water Management, Bhadrak Sharat Kumar Mohanty in a disproportionate assets case, Special Judge, Vigilance Court, Cuttack sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment (RI) for 3.6 years and pay a fine of Rs 8, 00,000 and in default undergo RI for further period of six months.
He was remanded to judicial custody and sent to the Choudwar Jail. The case was registered by Balasore Vigilance in 1988. His residential house at Bankasahi, Bhadrak was searched on June 28, 1994. The court had ordered for confiscation of his double storied building at Naripur, Bhadrak and a plot at Samaraipur, Bhadrak in 2012.
