A serious trend of corruption in Baragarh block office came to the fore recently wherein engineers, clerks and GPTAs have pocketed over Rs 3 lakh deposited by contractors as security money against works allocated to them.
Usually, contractors deposit one to three per cent of work order bill amounts before beginning of the works. These security money are deposited in Government account
But in the block officer here, concerned engineers
and staffs have take away all security money deposited in recent years.
A letter, numbering 1925/18-12-15, issued from the Bargarh Panchayat Samiti office, informed that five GPTAs and three Junior Engineers have taken away Rs 3 lakh from the security money which should have been deposited in Government fund.
People have demanded
an investigation into the allegation and action against errant officers.
