The agitating Block Grant teachers, who were brutally lathicharged on Friday for marching towards the Naveen Niwas by breaking police cordon, on Saturday gheraoed the residences of seven Ministers, who are members of the Inter-Ministerial Committee looking into their demands.
The teachers gheraoed the houses of Finance Minister Pradeep Amat, Health Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, Energy Minister Pranab Prakash Das, Food Minister Sanjay Dasburma, law Minister Arun Sahoo and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Bikram Keshari Arukh to press their demands of full grant-in-aid (GIA).
The teachers said the decision of the committee was not satisfactory.
The Government had constituted the committee headed by the Finance Minister to consider the teachers’ demands for an early solution, but nothing tangible has happened as yet.
Around 40 BG teachers were injured when police on Friday resorted to a lathicharge on the teachers, who were marching to gherao the Chief Minister’s residence.
Commissioner of Police YB Khurania said 38 arrested teachers were forwarded to court on Saturday.
