The 488 Category Aided College Block Grant lecturers’-Employees’ Coordination Committee would gherao the Directorate of the Higher Education here on October 6 to press for withdrawal of the Block Grant system and provision of Full Grant-in-Aid for their colleges and in protest against direct appointment of lecturers through the State Selection Board (SSB).
Committee general secretary Dr Atal Bihari Bal too informed that the lecturers belonging to the 488 Category colleges would hold Padyatras in all 147 Assembly Constituencies against the Government’s apathy towards the teachers and would not cooperate with the administration in holding upcoming panchayat elections if their demands are not met.
The committee took these decisions at an extended body meeting held here on Sunday, said Bal. Vice president Aditya Prasad Rath, secretary Sukant Dash and Banamali Barik, Sisir Tripathy were present.
