The family of cricketer Yashpal Mohanty, popular as Ben, has announced formation of a Foundation - BEN-E-VOlENT. The former Ranji player passed away last month at the age of 38.
BEN-E-VOlENT will cater to the financial needs of neurosurgery, cardiac and paediatric patients who are poor and needy. The Foundation will also have a corpus which will be utilized to provide the financial support. Funds will be released by Foundation basing on discretion of its member which will also include competent doctors from Apollo Hospitals, Bhubaneswar.
Ben, son of retired bureaucrat Madan Mohan Mohanty and famous Odissi danseuse Kumkum Mohanty, was involved in a car mishap two years ago which left him in a state of coma. He passed away on February 23. (ENDS).
