Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) Commissioner Siddheswar Baliram Bonder held a meeting to review the preparedness to combat the situation that would arise in view of the cyclonic storm ‘Yaas’. The weather office has predicted that heavy rains and winds are likely to lash the coastal areas of Ganjam district on Wednesday and there are chances of flooding. Keeping this in mind, the BeMC has identified 21 shelters for people living in slums and thatched houses. The Commissioner has alerted the Public Health, Fire Services and Energy Departments to be vigilant and keep a watch on the situation.The CEO, engineers and other senior officials were present in the meeting.
