Noted freedom-fighter and former Minister Dolagobinda Pradhan has condemned the beheading of the Mahatma Gandhi statue at the premises of a primary school at Badchana block in Jajpur district that had been installed on the Gandhi Jayanti this year.
Pradhan, who is heading the Mahatma Gandhi Nonviolence Heritage Foundation Trust, termed the incident as disgraceful for the nation and sought intervention of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in this matter.
Though the matter was earlier brought to the notice Governor SC Jamir, the Government has done nothing neither has it arrested anyone in this connection, lamented Pradhan.
“The Headmistress of the Badaghumuri Primary School, district administration, SP, police and many political leaders have been appraised of the matter, but to no avail,” he lamented.
Pradhan urged the Chief Minister to intervene and direct the district administration to take stern action against the persons to be found guilty and reinstal a new Gandhi statue in the school.
