Human sacrifice suspected
Police on Tuesday recovered the headless body of a minor boy buried near a canal in the Sundhimunda, about five km from his house in Sindhikela village of Balangir district.
Reports said the nine-year-old boy, identified as Ghanashyam Rana of Sindhikela, had gone missing on October 13. A “missing complaint” was lodged in this regard at the local police station by his family members on October 14.
Subsequently, police launched a search operation and found a boy’s body on Tuesday and informed Ghanashyam’s family members, who immediately rushed to the spot and identified the body.
While an investigation has been launched by police, sources said a scientific team from Balangir assisted the police in the probe. Meanwhile, it was suspected that the murder could be an act of human sacrifice as there have been reports of such incidents in the area in the recent past.
