Tension erupted at Sarla Chhak here on Friday after activists of the Bajrang Dal intercepted an auto-rickshaw reportedly carrying about one quintal of beef.
The activists informed police about it, following which cops reached the spot, seized the vehicle and beef and detained the driver for questioning.
According to police sources, the beef was found under the seat of the driver while conducting a search.
Vehicular movement was affected at the spot for a while as a road blockade was staged by the activists burning tyres.
Till last reports came in, the driver, identified as Muhammad Faizana, was being interrogated at the local police station.
