The Milita BEd Shikshak Mahasangh on Monday threatened that it would take to the streets again during the coming Assembly session if their all legitimate demands are not met.
The Mahasangha said it respects the Government stricture on the teachers, but on the other hand, it wants that all its legitimate demands are met as per the Right to Education Act and the State Education Policy 2010 at the earliest.
“Even though we ended our 37-day protest on Government assurance, the Government is yet to fulfil our demands. We will take to the streets again during the coming Assembly session,” said Elementary TG Association president laxman Kumar Mohanty.
He said there is a need of three TG teachers in each upper primary school after the Class VIII was detached from the high school and, thus, at total of 53,000 trained graduate (TG) teachers are required. As many as 52,025 TG teachers are working in primary schools now. But the School and Mass Education Department has not taken any step to give TGT status to existing and pay salary (Rs 9,300 plus Grade Pay of Rs 4,600) to the existing TG teachers.
