The BED Shiksha Sahayak Sangha, Odisha at a meeting held hereon Sunday decided to gherao the State Assembly on December 12.
The Sangha said that due to soft-pedaling and lackadaisical attitude of the State Government, the Upper Primary education system is in a shambles. The teachers have approached the School and Mass Education Minister and Secretary, the Chief Secretary and the Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary over the past two years and strongly pressed for their demands.
But they have only got promises galore. The teachers have been demanding appointment of TGT Science and Art teachers according to the Right to Education Act- 2009- 2010 but the State Government is hoodwinking them, the Sangha alleged.
The Sangha has warned that if the Government does not recognise all B Ed Sikshya Sahayaks as TGT Teachers and provide them salaries according to TG scale, the teachers would not cooperate in the coming panchayat polls, said Sangha president Ajay Kumar Dhal. Among others, the Sangha’s working president Duryodhan Das and general secretary Debendra Kumar Nayak were present.
