Following the completion of the eviction drive within ten feet of the Meghanada Pacheri (wall) and the Singhadwar (lion’s Gate) of the Shree Jagannath temple as per the Odisha High Court’s order, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) on Thursday decided to take up beautification measures around the 12th-century shrine.

“Finally, we have evicted encroachments within the ten feet of the Meghanada wall and the Singhadwar. Now, we are planning to beautify the vacated area, besides a proper drainage system in order to improve sanitation,” said SJTA Chief Administrator Arabinda Padhee, adding that talks are on with various concerned authorities like the Archaeological Survey of India for this purpose
