Be doubly alert on safety: ECoR GM to staffs

Published on:

In the wake of a series of train mishaps, East Coast Railway (ECoR) General Manager Umesh Singh on Saturday appealed to all his officers and staffs to be doubly alert regarding safety matters.

The ECoR was recently awarded the shields for Best Performance in Traffic Transportation and for Financial Management Areas. It is today the highest-loading Railway Zone, he pointed out.

But, he said, a few recent incidents have badly affected the ECoR’s image. These incidents could be because of carelessness of a few people or for some other reason, but the entire organisation is getting a bad name for these reasons.

Singh advised all staffs engaged in the safety and technical areas to work strictly as per norms and regulations and not to resort to any shortcuts in train operations at all. Focus also needs to be given to training of contractual staffs, who have been outsourced.

Individuals found responsible for careless acts are under scrutiny and disciplinary proceedings have been initiated in all cases where staffs have been found guilty. The key to high standard of safety is a high-level of alertness, Singh said.
