Strong resentment is brewing among the locals following some Bangladeshi infiltrators were enlisted in the voter list in the coastal pockets of Mahakalpada block due to faulty enumeration by the local administration.

As many as 14 Bangladeshi infiltrators’ names were allegedly enrolled in the voter list that was published recently under Baulakani Gram Panchayat.

When the matter come to the knowledge of Haladhar Swain, Sarpanch of Baluakani, he informed it to the BDO of Mahakalapada  and the Sub Collector of Kendrapada urging them to delete the names and take stern action against the errant officials.

Swain, in his petition, said the Bangladeshi immigrants listed as voters are Dipankar Raptana(48), Kalyani Raptana(40), Bimal Haldar, Utpal Raptan(21), Sabitri Haldar, Anjana Mandal(29), Krushnapada Barik(47), Sandhya Barik(45), Jyotsna  Mandal(25), Goutam Mandal(31), Uttam Mandal(41), Sarana Mandal(58), Parbati Karmakar(38) and Amrit Karmakar(42). It may be noted here that several Bangladeshi infiltrators names were also enlisted in the recently rectified voter lists due to the callous and unholy nexus of the officials entrusted in voter list correction works.

When contacted, Kendrapada Sub Collector Kanhu Charan Dhir stated that the matter has come to his notice and that he would direct the BDO of Mahakalapada block to start a probe.

According to Mahakalapada block BDO Kailash Chandra Behera he has already started an inquiry and directed all the Bengali dominated nine gram panchayats of the blocks for thoroughly  re-verifying the documents of Bengali-speaking people. Behera said the fault lies with the data entry operators engaged in the collectorate.

locals alleged that due to the lackadaisical attitude of the State Government, the influx of Bangladeshis is going on every year in the coastal pockets of the district.
