BDA hands over files to Task Force

The Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) on Saturday submitted all the relevant documents and files to the newly constituted Task Force to facilitate inquiry into the alleged irregularities in the land and house deal.

To probe the irregularities, particularly committed under the discretionary quota, the State Government, now facing embarrassment, has formed a Task Force under Additional Chief Secretary, Revenue and Disaster Management, Taradatt.

The Housing and Urban Development Secretary and the General Administration Department Principal Secretary are the members of the Task Force.

According to sources between 2002 and 2011, 634 individuals have availed plots and houses from the BDA and the Cuttack Development Authority (CDA) under the discretionary quota, besides a number of influential persons being the illegal beneficiaries.

Meanwhile, the BDA authorities, in order to maintain transparency, has made it mandatory for all its employees including officers to submit their  property list which would be an annual affair.

The step was taken following an allegation that a majority of BDA officials and employees have managed to allot more than one plot of land and house in their favour and also in favour of their kith and kin.
