The Commissionerate police on Wednesday imposed a fine of Rs 26,000 on a scooter owner when a minor boy was caught driving the two-wheeler without wearing helmet in the Khandagiri area here.
While Rs 25,000 was fined as the driver was a juvenile, a penalty of Rs 1,000 was imposed for helmetless driving.
The challan was issued against the owner of the vehicle, one Niranjan Dash of the Forest Park area here.
The challan stated, “Debasis Parida, who has not attained 18 years of age, was riding the scooter (OR02 AG 0183) without helmet.” The two-wheeler was also seized under Section 207 of the MV Act as the rider, a resident of Jagamara here, was a juvenile and he failed to produce driving licence (DL).
