The Commissionerate police on Thursday arrested two close aides of Bhubaneswar BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi for allegedly assaulting a person accusing him of putting up missing posters of the MP in different parts of Bhubaneswar.
Based on a complaint of the victim Shubham Hira, police arrested the MP’s PA Dhaneswar Barik and another person, Jyotiranjan Panda.
The complainant alleged that Dhaneswara and Jyotiranjan thrashed him alleging that he had pasted the missing posters of Sarangi. Notably, posters carrying a picture of the BJP MP with ‘missing’ written on it were found in different parts of the city on the day. The posters mentioned as to why she has been silent over the controversial heritage bye-laws framed for Brahmeswara and Ananta Basudeba temples, prohibiting construction works around the shrines.“The draft bylaws for Ekamra Kshetra still remain in force. The Central Government is conspiring to destroy the existence of the prominent heritage site of the State,” the posters alleged, questioning the silence of Sarangi.
