The Bhubaneswar Special Jail at Jharpada has received ISO Certification for excellence in skill development, stress management and occupational abilities of prisoners, food processing units and cleanliness and hygiene.
Minister of State for Home Divya Shankar Mishra handed over the ISO •9001 Certificate on Thursday to the Jail Superintendent.
DG of Prisons Santosh Upadhyaya, who has been pursuing improvement of standards quality, technology and timeliness under a 5T charter was present on the occasion. It has been decided that 10 jails of the State will improve their performances to obtain ISO Certification.
The Minister visited the production units in the jail premises and discussed with the DG of Prisons regarding branding and marketing of the products made by inmates under the MSME sector as there is a shortage of quality products in the market.
The Minister interacted with some female prisoners and advised them to meditate, have peace in mind and to be positive in life as it would help them deal with their difficult situations.
