A young woman has lodged an FIR with police alleging rape by an Odisha State Armed Police (OSAP) Subedar at gunpoint for days together.
Based on the complaint, the Capital police on Friday registered a case under Sections 376 (2) (A), 344, 506 of IPC and Sections 25 and 27 of Arms Act and recorded the victim’s statement and sent her for medical examination.
However, the accused Debasis Swain has been absconding. As per the complaint, Swain had brought the woman to his official quarters at Unit-1 here on March 28 for domestic work for a monthly salary of Rs 4,000. But when he told her that his wife and children have gone to village due to the lockdown, the woman said she would come to work once his wife and children returned.
But Swain brandished a gun and locked her in a room. And since then, he used to rape her at gunpoint every day after returning from duty. He also reportedly assured her of marriage. On August 1, Swain dropped her near Xavier Square at Dharmasala of Jajpur district and threatened her of dire consequences if she revealed the matter to anyone.
