Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena received the ‘Fastest Moving City in East Zone’ cleanliness award from Union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu at a function held in Delhi on Thursday.
Among 434 cities of the country, Bhubaneswar scored 94th rank as the fastest growing city with its population exceeding 10-lakh mark under the Amrut (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation of Urban Transformation) Yojana.
In 2015, the city had secured 331st rank among 500 cities.
From among the many criterion fixed during the survey, collection of data from municipal body and interaction with officials, collection of data from direct observation and from citizens’ feedback were the major ones set with 2,000 marks. Of these, Bhubaneswar scored 1,254.47 marks.
