Vigilance officers on Friday arrested Bhubaneswar Rural Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) Kabita Chhotray for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 50,000 from Banabasini Mallik of Jayapur village under Dhauli police station for passing of Chhatua bills of Rs 5, 60,706.
Mallik, secretary of the Dhauli SSG had submitted Chhatua bills for the months of June and July 2017 through the CDPO to the Khordha district Collector for payment. But Chhotray demanded bribe of Rs 50,000 for to forward the bills, alleged Mallick in her complaint.
Accordingly, the Vigilance sleuths laid a trap and caught Chhotray red-handed while taking Rs 50,000 from the complaint.
Her house at Plot No 25-P Sahid Naqgar and office at Bhubaneswar were under search, informed an official release.
