The Bharatiya Bikash Parishad (BBP) led by its State president Surendra Panigrahi submitted a memorandum to the district Collector on Friday demanding delivery of Patta (mutation/ownership) to 172 poor homeless families who have been residing in Uttaramukhee Street under Haradakhandi Revenue Mouza of Brahmapur Tehsil for last 60 years.
The parishad mentioned that, the land on which the poor families are staying belongs to Anabadi Patita Kisam covering an area of 1.200 acre.
These families have been demanding Patta in their favour over a long time but in vain. As per the State Government decision, several families settled on similar lands in every revenue village of Ganjam district were identified/treated as “Grama Kantak” and accordingly were distributed Patta. However, the Government ignored the case of the 172 families who are tribals and Dalits, Panigrahi alleged. If the district administration fails to distribute Patta to these 172 poor families within 30 days from the date of receipt of the memorandum, the families will be forced to launch agitation, the memorandum cautioned.
