After order of the Endowment Commissioner entitling the Gurudwara Arati Sahib to practise its three rituals in the Bauli mutt of Puri, Mahant Satyanarayan Das and his disciples are in a state of fear. Mahant Das, who is presently heading the Udasin cult in Bauli mutt, feared of his rights after the order stated that the rituals of Lord Patipaban statue and Sri Guru Granth, the holy book of Sikh cult, to go in the mutt.
Das said that in ordering both the cults to fix time table for performance of rituals, the endowment has really pushed the centuries’ old mutt for a direct fight between the Udasin and Sikh cults, which is dangerous. There was no bar against the Sikhs to enter and perform rites in the mutt earlier.
Suspecting the order a vendetta to end the rituals of Patitapaban, Mahant Das said he has informed all his branches operating in the country at nearly 600 locations including three in the State.
“The order has given rise to a conflict between Udasin and Gurudwara.
Gurudwara has failed several times in its attempts to control the mutt and oust us,” said junior seer Akhaya Das. He said that two turbaned youths had already been arrested by police in a bike theft case in 2014, who were residing here for six months. Youths had attempted to evict them over sword point but failed due to help of local people, said Das.
He charged that attempts have been made even to replace Patipaban statue from the mutt, to establish that it is separated from the Hindu cult.
