Barsa Swony Chaudhary’s family has received another postcard containing threat message within a gap of a week. The letter was received in her native parental address at Raibania in Jaleswar. It was addressed in her father’s name Kishor Kumar Chaudhary and received on Friday.
Unlike the previous one, it was written in English. Again, the sender threatened that Barsa would meet the same fate of Anjana Mishra.
Besides, it was written that she would face acid attack and be gang raped if she came to her native area. With the second threat letter, jittery father of Barsa, Kishor Chaudhary once again approached the Town police and sought safety for the family.
IIC Bijay Murmu said, “A case was registered under Sections 500, 506, 507 and 34 of IPC. An investigation is on and we are verifying the authenticity of the case.”
It may be noted that the HRPC team which had been probing the case of dowry torture on Barsa had about a month ago submitted the charge sheet in the court of SDJM. The charge sheet included all the five members of her in —laws’ family, including husband Rajashree Mohanty, father -in-law Raghunath Mohanty, former Minister Raghu Mohanty, his wife Preetilata Mohanty, daughter Rupashree Madhual and her husband Dr Suvendu Madhual. Barsa also lodged two more cases in different courts.
While one is under the Domestic Violence Act, the other one is for seeking maintenance in the family court of Baleswar.
