Barsa Swony Chaudhary, daughter-in-law of former Minister Raghunath Mohanty, on Monday filed a petition in the Court of Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate here alleging domestic violence.
Before, she had filed a petition seeking alimony for her maintenance in the Family Court of Baleswar,
In today’s petition, she made her husband Rajashree Mohanty, father-in-law Raghunath Mohanty and mother-in-law Pritilata Mohanty as parties.She filed the petition while a dowry torture case involving five members of her in-law family is pending in the court, and her husband and in-laws are out on bail.
Barsa’s counsel Amar Ballav Nanda said, “The petition has been submitted in the court. The matter will go to the protection officer. This petition is a separate one filed under the Domestic Violence Act.”
