Over 100 women of Wards No-1, 2 and 3 of the Bargarh Municipality staged a dharna in front of the district SP’s office demanding a complete ban of liquor sale and consumption in their localities.
They alleged that liquor consumption is ruining many families and leading to antisocial activities, which include domestic violence.
Especially, women have borne the brunt of it, they complained.Bhabani Sahu, Amitab Patra and other members of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Bargarh unit took part in the protest. They also threatened to intensity their agitation if the district administration continues to pay a deaf ear to their demand.
