The Class-1V employees of the gram panchayats (GPs) of the district held an emergency meeting under the chairmanship of district president Gopal Bhoi on Sunday to protest against the State Government’s apathy to their demands.
In this connection, they formed a committee and decided to move the Orissa High Court for fulfillment of their demands. The employees alleged that they are getting a paltry salary of `500 to `1,000 per month, for which they have to lead a miserable life.
Although they were appointed as secretary of the GP under the Panchayat Act, but the State Government has not regularised their posts as Government employees. They have repeatedly pressed for their demands but the authorities have turned a deaf year, said Bhoi. Among others, Gobind Majhi, Gunanidhi Bagar and Premanand Seth were present.
