Bargarh cop attack: NHRC wants action taken report

Published on:

The National Human Right Commission (NHRC) has issued a notice to the State’s Chief Secretary and DGP asking them to submit an action taken report (ATR) within four weeks against the police officials, who had attacked innocent members of a family of Veden block in Bargarh district during the hearing at the District Collector’s grievance cell. According to sources, the family’s complainant at the grievance cell on September 2 last alleged that the police officials were neglecting his family members and not giving proper attention to them after their repeated appeals to take action against persons behind the murder of their family’s head. The family’s head was killed by some miscreants and later the family members were feeling insecure.

While Bargarh SP Anup Krishna came to know the matter, he got angry and soon the police officials attacked the family members. However, Human Rights Watch secretary Sangita Swain lodged a complaint with the NHRC seeking justice for the victim family.
