Published on:

Mountaineer Lipika Seth of Bargarh along with co-climbers on Tuesday reached the base camp of Europe’s highest peak, Russia’s Mount Elbrus (5,642/18,510 ft).

The expedition will continue for 10 days. While Bargarh’s Bikash Institute has provided Rs 50,000, the Asia Pacific Habitat Society (APHS)’s Secretary General Dr William Hines has promised to spend the rest expenditure to be made for the expedition.

According to Lipika’s guide, the weather is now very suitable for mountaineering and, thus, the team would begin mounting Elbrus either on October 3 midnight or October 4 midnight.

Earlier, Lipika had successfully mounted Africa’s highest peak Kilimanjaro (5,895).
