Some hotels and bars in Bhubaneswar are blatantly flouting the Excise Department guidelines and operating behind the permissible time limits.
In such an incident, the Excise Department has issued a show-cause notice to a hotel and bar which was operating beyond permissible time limit in the city.
The rampant violation was detected during a surprise raid on the Sungreen Hotel and Bar in the Kharavel Nagar area on Friday night.
During the inspection, the concerned bar was found serving liquor at 1:10 am. As per existing rules, bars in the State are allowed to operate from 12 noon to 12 am.
As per senior officials, there were over 50 customers in the bar during the raid.
