Banks closed for a week in Kandhamal

In a bid to prevent the spread of coronavirus, all banks in Kandhamal district would remain closed for a week. The decision was taken by the Kandhamal Collector on Wednesday following a number of bank employees testing positive for the virus in the district.

During the closure period, the required sanitisation and disinfection of all bank office premises and chambers would be carried out.

The bank employees would remain in home quarantine during the period. If any employee develops symptoms he or she should immediately report to health authorities and the district administration. Swab samples of all symptomatic employees would be collected for test, an official order said.

Branch Managers of the concerned banks have been instructed to ensure adequate availability of cash in all ATM counters to meet the requirements of customers.

After one week, the banks would function with 50 per cent staffs strictly adhering to the Covid-19 restrictions, the order added.
